Overview / Design / Reflection

I led the design of a streamlined mobile homepage for Extend, simplifying how users access their virtual credit cards and complete end-of-month expense tasks.

The redesign replaced a static CTA with a more intuitive card layout, while also surfacing overlooked but essential features like uploading receipts and categorizing expenses.

What started as a quick win for guest users turned into a broader rollout after positive feedback from the CEO and leadership team.

Helping Users Get to Their Cards Faster—And Reducing Work for Finance Teams

Extend lets businesses issue virtual credit cards to employees, using existing lines of credit. A huge number of users open the app just to view or copy a card number. But on mobile, that took way too many steps—especially for something so core to the experience.

The original homepage required users to:

  1. Tap “Your Cards”
  2. Scroll through a table of cards
  3. Tap a card
  4. Then copy the info

Not great. And on top of that, users had no prompts to upload receipts or categorize expenses—creating more manual work for the finance team later on.
