Overview / Design / Reflection
I led the direction of design improvements for Slickdeals’ deal management software, “Deal Specialist Funnel (DSF).” DSF is a platform that allows merchants to work with deal specialists on the Slickdeals team and get deals for their products onto the consumer-facing platform.
An early round of improvements solved basic user experience issues on DSF, and led to an increase in both user acquisition and user retention rate—merchants were impressed by demos of the improved platform and, in the months following, the amount of software subscribers more than doubled.
A second, more radical iteration transforms the way that merchants manage their deal submissions. I left the company after finishing the design, and before we were able to implement it.

Merchants that would like their deals on the main Slickdeals site, in front of consumers, can subscribe to a service on Slickdeals that allows them to do so.
The journey is typically as following:
I inherited a live MVP of DSF that allowed merchants to perform the basic necessary tasks but was confusing from a user experience standpoint, not at all in line with how merchants typically interact with the platform.
The MVP doesn’t sort submissions according to state, requiring merchants to sift through what is often a list of 10-20 submissions.
